Religion Tenure Track Faculty
Candidates must possess theological perspectives that are in keeping with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), possess general competency in a broad range of theological and biblical issues, and be open to interaction with a variety of different faith traditions. The Religion professor at Bethany College will serve as Bethanys theologian, and be able to articulate a theological vision of what Bethany College is and will be in the 21st century as an ELCA institution of higher learning. Additional duties will include curriculum development and assessment; teaching interdisciplinary courses within the core curriculum; advising students in the Christian Ministry major; and teaching courses in Bible, theology, ministry, world religions and church history. Candidates will also be expected to engage students in interactive learning, and help with Christian vocation programs and recruiting of students. The standard teaching load at Bethany College is 24 credit-hours per year.
QUALIFICATIONS A Ph.D. or Th.D. degree in Theology, Religious Studies or Biblical Studies is preferred, but applicants with significant teaching experience and either a M.Div. degree, D.Min., or a M.A. degree in any of the above fields will be considered. Background and training in Youth and Family Ministry is also preferred, but not required.
SALARY $30,000 to $38,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
