In a recent post on the
Anxious Bench blog, Tommy Kidd offers "
Five Compelling Religious Biographies." Here, he suggests some holiday gifts, including
Paul Gutjahr's
Charles Hodge: Guardian of American Orthodoxy,
Barry Hankins's
Francis Schaeffer and the Shaping of American Evangelical Culture, and
Catherine Brekus's
Sarah Osborn's World: The Rise of Evangelical Christianity in Early America. I mention these titles because the first two have been highlighted on the ESRH blog. Regarding Catherine Brekus's book, I know that a review on it will appear shortly in
Books & Culture.
