Position Announcement:  Assistant Professor of Religion

The Department of Philosophy and Religion of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga invites applications for an assistant professor of religion specializing in Hinduism with competency in other South Asian traditions (Islam and/or Buddhism preferred).  The candidate should also demonstrate teaching experience in the area of specialization and in world religions.  Knowledge of relevant research languages, especially Hindi and Sanskrit, is desirable.  This is a tenure-track appointment beginning August 1, 2014.  Candidates must hold the doctorate in religion by the time of appointment.  Please submit a letter of application outlining teaching experience and research interests, transcript, curriculum vitae, and three letters of reference.  All materials, except the transcript, must be submitted electronically to FacultyVitae16@utc.edu, not to the department, by December 15, 2013.  Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
